Policing & Investigation work was considered to be a male domain, too dangerous and rough for a woman to even contemplate but no agency be it state run or private has ever done without them. Even Chanakya during the Maurya period could not do without Lady Investigators called "Guptchars" and before him during the earlier days, lady investigators were ironically called "Vish Kanyas" who have changed the face of history with their investigative skills.

A woman could befriend the wives and girlfriends of criminals, coaxing out information. Suspects might be less guarded with a woman, revealing secrets in boasting or flirtation. Women, also have an eye for detail and are excellent observers.

The investigating Agencies, be it Indian Central & State agencies or in developed countries, even in Muslim countries have ladies in uniform working as frontline, secret & undercover agents.

Today's women are something of an enigma. There can be no doubts about her accomplishments. Not only are they a trailblazing pioneer in investigation work, they also have become a kind of prototype for the Secret Service agents and Private Investigators.
